Regardless of which father fertilized which egg, all those from the breeding pool are considered siblings (though the bond between the siblings is not as important as in other species).

The eggs have a survival rate of 50% and depending on the ambient temperature of the pool, 80% will be of one sex and 20% of the other. A brood mother chooses the partners and lays up to 100 eggs which are fertilized by one or more males in a breeding pool.
